I don’t usually blog about my kids. They are of an age where I try to respect their privacy, but with EJ’s permission I am writing this post to all the the people who are confused about my child’s racial identity. Yes, she is black. And she is proud of it. In all the things I worried about when my husband and I talked about marriage and kids, this situation never occurred to me. But my beautiful baby girl who is ‘me’ from the top of her head to tips of her toes, looks white.
What is the problem you ask? The problem is that no race is more judgemental against black people, than other people of color. This prejudice has been passed down from the days of slavery when the light colored slaves were given positions in the ‘big house’.
